Mechanical engineering is a discipline of engineering that applies the principles of engineering, Physics and materials science for analysis, design, manufacturing, and maintenance of mechanical systems. It is the branch of engineering that involves the production and usage of heat and mechanical power for the design, production, and operation of machines and tools. It is one of the oldest and broadest engineering disciplines Mechanical Engineering is one of the major activities in the engineering profession and its principles are involved in the design, study, development and construction of nearly all of the physical devices and systems. Continued research and development have led to better machines and processes helping the mankind.

The mission of the department of mechanical engineering at sriram polytechnic college is to provide the students with sound mechanical engineering knowledge advance the undertaking and application of mechanical engineering principles, and improve the quality of the life of our citizens through teaching, and outreach programs.
